GAISCE and Duke of Edinburgh Award – new and free Find one or more members in your club, it doesn’t have to be the youth officer, to register as an award leader and then to encourage students in the area from schools, interact, rotaract and other youth organisations to take up the Award. (Age 15-25) Gaisce and Duke of Edinburgh Award provide all the materials, brochures, training etc, all clubs have to do is find one or more leaders in the club and students to participate. Students will need to show involvement in community work, learn a new skill, look after their physical activity and take part in an adventure activity, in other words be a healthy young citizen of the community. Three awards exist Bronze/Silver and Gold, the Gold awards in the Republic are presented by the President and in the North by a member of the Royal Family. After 5 years as an award leader, Rotarians will also be recognised for their involvement. All the literature and infrastructure is provided by Gaisce and the Duke of Edinburgh Award, all Rotarians need to do is give time and support in their clubs.
